Conference Cane: 2013
Age at death: 92 years, 3 months

Rev. William D. Rickard

Tex passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Friday, November 8, 2013. He is survived by four children, many grand-children and great grand-children, as well as many nieces and nephews and their extended families. He was the last of the “greatest generation” of this branch of the Rickard family tree. Bill (Tex) was born the youngest of four children in Houghton in 1921 to Stephen and Myrta (Hoskins) Rickard. He went to Albion College starting two weeks after school began. While at Albion, he met Mary Helen Gregory, they fell madly in love. Tex and Mary were married in August 1945 and he completed his final year of seminary, graduating in 1946 from Garrett. Tex served as the pastor of Midland, Saginaw State Street, he served churches in Livonia, East Detroit, Sterling Heights, Davis and finally back to his boyhood church in Mount Clements. He also served as the D.S. of the Port Huron District. Tex has maintained a vitality and interest in life through his relationships with many which he cherished deeply. Now is the time to celebrate “a life well lived” that he described as ordinary, but which to many was extraordinary. Tex was 92 year old.
