R.C.G. Williams of Auburn died January 16 at the Colonial Rest Home in Bay City after a lingering illness. He was born in Truro, England, September 6, 1876. He married Louise Jan Jeffreys December 21, 1901, in Neath, Glamorganshire, South Wales. She died December 16, 1961. He is survived by two sons: W. Leslie Williams, superintendent of the Flint District, and Jan C. Williams of Chatsworth, California; one daughter, Mrs. Hobart C. Moore of Bay City; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Phoebe Craze of Truro, England. The following Methodist churches were served by him: Amasa, Greenland Circuit, Calumet Centennial, Sault Ste. Marie Algonquin, Munising, Escanaba, Bay City Madison Avenue, South Lyon, and Auburn. He retired from the active ministry in 1947, but took an appointment at Auburn until he finally concluded his ministry after being under appointment for forty-four years. At the time of his death he was the oldest member of the Detroit Conference and as such, holder of the Conference Cane. He was a life member of the three Masonic groups: Blue Lodge, Chapter and Commandry. Services were held at the Auburn Methodist Church Wednesday, January 19, under the leadership of its pastor, Floyd Braun, and Herbert Brubaker, superintendent of the Saginaw Bay District. Many ministers, particularly of the Saginaw Bay and Flint districts, were in attendance and formed a guard of honor. Paul Pumphrey, Donald A. Wittbrodt, Arthur B. Howard, Glenn E.L. Kjellberg, Benjamin Whaley and Hugh S. Townley were the pallbearers. Burial was in the Floral Garden Cemetery, Bay City.
