Michigan Christian Advocate

michigan christian advocateThe Michigan Christian Advocate was a publication for Michigan Methodists that was published regularly betwen 1873 and 2010. It began as a monthly magazine, later moving to weekly publication before returning to monthly publication in its later years. It appeared in newspaper, tabloid, and magazine format during its run. Stories in the Advocate included coverage of Conference and District meetings, local church activities and celebrations, obituaries of prominent Michigan Methodists, and stories covering issues affecting the Church and society.

The magazine was started in 1873 by Rev. Orrin Whitmore and continued until 2010, under the editorship of its fourteenth editor, Tom Ferguson. A list of editors of the Michigan Christian Advocate can be found here.
